What The Blog Am I Doing

I can’t believe that I have created a Blog and I am actually posting a comment. Talk about getting thrown into the deep end, baptism by fire, or any other cliché you can think of. I don’t Face Book, Tweet, or participate in any cyber recreation. But because this required for a course I am taking I have two goals at this time have some fun and learn something.

Next year I am transferring to a different school in my system and will be teaching several new courses this may be good timing and practice. The theme of this Blog is Education and specifically how can I better integrate technology into my classroom. I hope to learn to use available technology to better engage my students now and in the future.

  1. Chris,

I posted on my blog that I couldn't get yours to feed to google reader. Don't worry...I figured it out. Don't know why it didn't work the first time.

  3. So I guess I am really doing this, Blogging. Who would have thunk it but I have been able to set up my Blog add my RSS Aggregator. I have also added a few Gadgets including a page Header and a Poll to survey how likely visitors will use a Blog in their classroom. What is that about long journeys starting with one step? Please share some recommendations.

  4. How I might use a blog in my classroom

This week’s application for Walden University EDUC-6710I-2 Understanding the Impact of Technology on Education, Work, and Society instructs us to post an idea for how I might use a blog in the classroom. I recently attended an in-service meeting with other Tech Ed teachers in my county. One of my colleagues presented a lesson and shared his Blog and Wiki with the group. He has given me permission to share with you. www.tech-heads.blogspot.com http://wms.sites.fcps.org/node/354 http://wmsrubegoldberg.wikispaces.com/
I currently am teaching high school Tech Ed. Next year I will be transferring to a middle school where I will be teaching new courses I plan on using a Blog or Wiki to post lessons, resources, links to other sites. Although I have not learned how to do it yet another colleague discussed with me the way he has his students post comments. He assigns all students code names or numbers and has it set up so the posts go directly to him and he has to approve them before the public can see them. I am guessing there is special terminology for what I just attempted to describe but I have not learned yet. If any of my Walden Univ. classmates are familiar with this process please share with me.

  5. Chris,
I am impressed and intimidated by how well your blog turned out. Did you just pick up the idea for a poll from the readings or do you have more experience than you let on? Nice job!
